DriveTexas focuses on state-maintained roads. Local city streets, private roads and some toll-road conditions may require a separate local authority check.
BEFORE YOU GO
Five checks in the right order
- Open DriveTexas and center the map on your entire route.
- Turn on the relevant condition layers, such as closure, flooding, damage or construction.
- Zoom in far enough to reveal available traffic-camera icons.
- Check both the origin and destination areas, not only the highway between them.
- Recheck before departure because road and flood conditions can change quickly.
LOCATION-SPECIFIC GUIDANCE
The map is only as complete as its roadway coverage
- The static map is a useful fallback when the interactive map is slow or difficult on a phone.
- Flood-alert sensor coverage is available only in selected coastal areas.
- Traffic cameras appear only after zooming to the required level and some may be offline.
- TxDOT states that it does not record or store traffic-camera footage.
- Local street closures may not appear; consult the responsible city or toll authority when needed.

Avoid common traps
Does DriveTexas cover every Texas street?
No. Its core coverage is TxDOT state-maintained roadways.
Why do I not see camera icons?
Zoom in until the Live Camera layer becomes active; some cameras may also be offline.
Does no flood marker mean the road is safe?
No. Conditions can develop quickly and flood-sensor alerts cover only selected areas.
