- Check NYC311 or Notify NYC for service modifications.
- Allow additional time during weekday rush periods when boats and terminals are crowded.
- Verify subway, bus or Staten Island Railway connections separately.
LOCATION-SPECIFIC GUIDANCE
It is free—and it is not NYC Ferry
- The Staten Island Ferry charges no fare; do not buy a ticket from someone outside the terminal.
- The trip normally takes about 25 minutes between Whitehall and St. George.
- Passengers must disembark at the end of each trip before boarding another sailing.
- Service normally runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- NYC Ferry’s St. George route is a different, fare-charging service and should not be confused with the Staten Island Ferry.
